The New 2021 Nissan GT-R
565 Horses, Standard
GT-R Premium, 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque with 600 hp and 481 lb-ft available.
An IHI turbocharger is mounted on each bank of the engine. The exhaust manifolds, inspired by racing technology, have optimized turbo flange attachment points, which allow for easier servicing and potential tuning, without touching the exhaust manifold. To ensure there is no turbo lag as torque rises, high-precision electronic controls are employed. An abradable seal housing derived from our GT3 racing program brings enhanced engine response at lower rpm.
Handformed titanium exhaust
A titanium exhaust helps ensure proper cooling from the engine’s massive output. Notoriously difficult to work with, each exhaust is hand-built by a master craftsman, and is specifically designed for an individual vehicle. A “burnished” finish to the exhaust tip gives the perfect look – of a high-performance vehicle that’s been enjoyed to the fullest.
Location, location, location
In another break with convention, Nissan GT-R’s Premium Midship platform places the engine farther back in the chassis for better handling. This unique layout also mounts the transmission with the transfer case in the rear of the Nissan GT-R, creating an independent rear transaxle in an All-Wheel Drive vehicle.
2021 Nissan GT-R Nismo
The ultimate GT-R experience can be found in the 2021 GT-R NISMO with its 600-hp engine and advanced performance and aerodynamics.
Coefficient of drag
Careful attention to the shape of the front fascia, C-pillar, and extensions at the lower portion of the rear bumper allows the GT-R to cut through the air efficiently.
Downforce adds grip and enhances the feeling of control. By reinforcing the hood and fine-tuning the design of the front spoiler and side sill extensions, air is prevented from being drawn under the vehicle, helping the GT-R consistently apply downforce.
GT-R breaks all the rules
The average car has exposed working gear underneath where wind whips around, creating lift, and slowing you down. The Nissan GT-R, of course, isn’t an average car. Its underbody is virtually covered by composite panels, giving it a flat, aerodynamic surface. At the front of the car, the flat underbody is accelerating the air and channeling it over the brakes, cooling them down. At the back, a carbon-fiber diffuser takes that accelerated air and slows it down, creating a vacuum effect that helps the Nissan GT-R connect to the road, while a duct in the diffuser helps cool the titanium exhaust.
Dry sump lubrication system
To ensure stable lubrication for the transmission even when cornering at high Gs, a dry sump lubrication system is employed. The system sprays transmission oil directly onto the gears, reducing friction and increasing reliability.
Two clutches, no clutch pedal
The Nissan GT-R’s 6-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts incredibly quickly. How? Inside the transmission, there are separate clutches for the odd (1st, 3rd, 5th) and even (2nd, 4th, 6th) gears. When the car is in an odd-numbered gear, the adjacent even-numbered gear is “pre-selected” – ready to make the shift immediately. The transmission is so smart, it even “blips” the throttle on downshifts to match rpm.
Performance with a bias
Instead of the traditional 50/50 torque split between front and rear axles, the electronically controlled All-Wheel Drive system provides up to nearly 100% of available torque to the rear wheels, and can send up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. This provides the steering feel and response of a rear-wheel drive vehicle, while giving the added confidence that only AWD can offer. Additionally, VDC continuously monitors your steering and braking actions, senses any oversteer or understeer, and compensates by reducing engine speed and/or applying brake pressure to specific wheels.
Forged aluminum wheels
The Nissan GT-R’s rigid forged aluminum 20" wheels, manufactured by RAYS®, utilize knurling inside the wheels to help keep the tires from slipping around the wheels under heavy acceleration or braking. The wheels feature a machined finish, which provides a high-quality, high-performance look.
Monoblock calipers with floating disc rotors
The brakes feature 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers for stronger, more equal clamping power – something you’d expect to see in an all-out competition machine. For extreme rigidity with light weight, the caliper is machined from a single one-piece “monoblock” of aluminum.
Bilstein® Damptronic® shock absorbers
A special Bilstein® DampTronic® driver-adjustable shock absorber system utilizes multiple vehicle information systems to provide appropriate damping forces and a high level of control for a variety of driving situations.
Multi-Material structural components
The GT-R body gets maximum strength from Carbon Aluminum Die-cast Steel, a combination of carbon fiber, die-cast aluminum and steel. For structural rigidity, aluminum die-cast door inner panels are employed to help decrease the amount of deformation during a crash. For added structural rigidity, the suspension’s strut tower bar is made of a lightweight carbon composite.
R-Mode is for maximum performance. It sets the transmission for the quickest shifts and adjusts the suspension, shocks, and Vehicle Dynamic Control for high-performance handling.
GT-R Normal Mode
For daily driving, choose Normal Mode, which sets the transmission, suspension and VDC for a smooth, refined ride.
GT-R Special Modes
Use Save Mode for long-distance driving and gentler torque delivery on slippery surfaces. In Comfort Mode, the damping force of the shock absorbers is variably adjusted for more comfort. Off Mode disengages the VDC system.
One man, one engine
Only five master craftsmen in the world – known as Takumi – are allowed to hand-assemble the GT-R’s engine and a affix a plaque carrying their name.
AS Class drivers – the top development drivers at Nissan – help create a vehicle that would excel at any racetrack, in any kind of weather, in the hands of any level of driver.
Drivers are assigned to a unique aspect of Nissan GT-R’s development, including an Autobahn expert, a “Marketability” expert, and “Ringmeisters” who pit the GT-R against the legendary Nürburgring.

Advanced Air Bags
In the event of a collision, advanced air bags and a variety of sensors work together to help protect you.
Zone Body Construction
This advanced body construction combines impact-absorbing structures with a high-strength cabin, which helps provide protection for you and your passengers.
6 air bags
Nissan Advanced Air Bag System includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat-belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor. The inflation rate of these dual-stage air bags adjusts depending on crash severity and seat belt usage.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
When it comes to being in the know, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) takes away the guesswork, by giving you real-time tire pressure information.
Vehicle Dynamic Control
Advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system not only helps you maintain your steering path, in R-Mode, it actually sends more power to the appropriate wheels when it senses oversteer or understeer, helping you drive with superior power and control.
Traction Control System
All the power in the world is useless if you can’t get any grip. So when TCS senses drive-wheel spin, it responds by helping reduce throttle, which helps to both regain grip and maintain control.
Anti-Lock Braking System
In sudden-braking situations, ABS pumps the brakes quickly to help prevent wheel lockup and help you maintain control.
To enhance visibility, the super-wide beam expands illumination toward the sides of the car. The headlights feature four LED units to create an extremely natural light, replicating daylight.
Electronic Brake Force Distribution
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) monitors weight distribution and adjusts rear brake force to compensate for added weight from passengers or cargo.
